I will be 2 years old in 6 days. In honor of this very special occasion, we'll be posting fun little pieces that will tell you all about what happened the year I was born, since I was too little to know what was going on. There will be stuff about my favorite things, family events, maybe even some pictures of me when I was very small!
Since one of my favorite things in the whole wide world is everything Disney, here's a little bit of Disney History for 2003, including the release of my favorite movie, "Finding Nemo":
Mickey Mouse celebrates his 75th birthday in November. The event is marked with an 18-month celebration beginning at the Walt Disney World Resort, where 75 unique, 70-pound, 6-feet-tall Mickey statues are unveiled. (I saw them, they were cool!!)
Mission:SPACE and Mickey's PhilHarmagic open at the Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort in Florida. (I'm too little for these attractions, but mommy and daddy said the SPACE ride was awesome!)
Tokyo Disneyland attracts a record 12 million visitors the first six months of the year as it celebrates it 20th anniversary. (Someday we'll go to Tokyo Disneyland...someday we'll touring all the Disney parks in the the world)
Disney becomes the first studio ever to surpass the $3 billion global box office mark thanks to the popularity of "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl" and "Finding Nemo."
"Finding Nemo" earns $70.3 million its first weekend at the box office -- the biggest opening in company history and the largest ever for an animated film.
(I helped...that's the first movie I went to see at the theater!)
The Disney Channel celebrates its 20th Anniversary. The channel, which launched with 610,000 subscribers, is now seen in more than 81 million U.S. homes and in 58 countries around the globe. (I helped with this too. I've been watching Playhouse Disney since I was about 4 months old!)
