Last night, for the first time in many months, my hubby and I went out for the evening. Our destination: American Airlines Arena, to watch our Miami Heat play the Sacramento Kings. We were eagerly awaiting this game since Alonzo Mourning came back to the Miami Heat after kidney complications and playing briefly with the NJ Nets. We also were excited to see Shaq live. Wow, that man is big!
The game was amazing. We arrived early enough to watch the pre-game practice, and tears filled my eyes during the national anthem. Zo was shown on the screens, just nodding his head, his face filled with emotion, when the words "for the land of the free" were sung.
Shaq and Dwayne Wade are an amazing team, they play off each other with amazing ease, but in spite of this amazing duo, we were all there to see another Heat center hit the court, our beloved Zo. He was finally brought in with 3:37 left in the game, and the crowd went wild. He seemed a bit off at first, but ended up scoring 4 points.
Thank you, Alonzo, for a wonderful night. Welcome back, old friend.
I saw bits and pieces of the game on TV, but I was basketballed out by the time the Heat were on, after the college games all day (including ours). Looked like a great game.
