What an interesting evening I had yesterday! On my way home, my sister called me and asked me if I could pick up my nephew. I told her it was not a problem, I’d take him home with me and I’d watch him until she was done at work. I knew it was going to be a huge surprise for Brandon when I picked him at school with his cousin in tow. I picked up Mikey at my stepmom’s house, then headed over to the sitter’s house to pick up Matty. From there we headed to Brandon’s school and then a very short, six-block drive home. Ironically I made it home earlier than usual, even with the extra stop. The boys played for a good long while as I bathed and fed the baby. Usually, when my sister is over with the boys, we will bathe them all together so they can play in the tub, but I won’t do it on my own. Our bathrooms aren't treated with any kind of tub and shower slip-resistant treatment, and with a wiggly infant and two hyper pre-schoolers one just can’t be too careful. I'd rather bathe them in shifts and avoid any slipping and sliding in the tub.
Anyway, I put Eric on baby duty when he got home from work. He gave Matty his bottle and put him to sleep while the boys ate dinner, cleaned up the playroom, and winded down with a movie before my sister came over to pick up Mikey. They were both tired, but just did not want to part. They would have kept playing together all night if we let them. On the other hand, I took a shower and plopped into bed shortly after. I got a small taste of what I’d be like to have three kids, and I definitely don't have the strength to do that every day.
sounds like Brandon had a great time.
admit it -- you did too!
