Ambushed!!

I went to Walmart earlier while the boys took a nap after the party. I was looking for a small garden stake flag with an Autumn theme. I've noticed that most retailers only stock gardening items during the summer (like Target, one of the few bones I have to pick with them), That stock is usually picked up or put on clearance as soon as the back to school stock is brought out. I figured that Walmart would have them since they have a separate garden section and nursery which is open year-round. I was wrong. I was seriously irked to find the entire garden section, save one row containing garbage bins, hoses and gardening tools, had been converted into a Christmas store. They had outdoor decorations, artificial trees, ornaments, wrapping paper, bows and ribbons, and a bunch of other stuff. There were more aisles of Christmas things than Halloween and Autumn items! Oh, and they also rearranged the store. Some of the fixtures used to be in angles, and now everything is in parallel rows. I guess they were able to fit more fixtures that way to prepare for the influx of more holiday crap that will bombard customers in the coming weeks. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays, it's my favorite time of the year, but is it really necessary to take out the Holiday things if it isn't even October yet?! It gets worse and worse every year. Before we realize it, we'll be getting hit up for holiday spending in April!

I agree the stores need to stay within the season somewhat. I hate to see Christmas before Columbus Day or before Halloween.

heh! I love that you called me to complain about this last night! I hate pre-mature holiday decorations in the stores.
