As much as I moan and complain about my job and the commute, there’s one thing I’m very happy about. My employer absorbs over 75% of the costs when it comes to our medical insurance coverage. I pay just under $200 a month for complete coverage for the four of us. I know there are places that don’t have great coverage, and/or the monthly premium is some ridiculous amount of money. A friend of mine recently had a baby and she had to return to work almost immediately because her employer just didn't cover maternity leave past the hospital stay. In retrospect, we would have had to enroll in some sort of Pregnancy Insurance, and waited even longer than we did between the two to prepare ourselves financially for a second child, if I didn't have the kind of coverage I have.
