As we were driving home from Tampa yesterday afternoon, I mentioned to hubby that it’s a real shame we haven’t taken the time to visit other places in the state besides Tampa and Orlando. We really should schedule a vacation that does not include theme parks, and drive through the state getting to know places like Naples, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee and St. Augustine. I recently heard about a cool event in St. Augustine called Uptown Saturday Night. They have what I would call a street party. The event spans several streets featuring live music, train tours, book readings and signings, art exhibits, and all sorts of St. Augustine shopping: rare books, antiques, and even authentic Spanish treasure. Oh, and each participating shop features wine and refreshments to add to the atmosphere. If there’s one place I can think of to go antique shopping, it’s St. Augustine. You all know how I feel about shopping! And Brandon would LOVE that train tour. It sounds like a lot of fun, doesn’t it?
It’s the last Saturday of every month, from 5PM until 9PM. It seems we just missed it, since the last one was this past Saturday. The next one is November 24th. That’s Thanksgiving weekend, which would be perfect for us to drive up for the long weekend if that weren't hubby's scheduled weekend to work. =(
