Getting out of the Rut

For the last few weeks we’ve taken a proactive approach to improving our financial status. Instead of moping, whining and complaining, hubby and I decided to take action and get out of our rut. We have been taking lunch to work every day for almost two months (give or take a day or two). I’ve limited our errands to once a week so that we save on gas. I’ve been cooking just about every night, or at least making enough often so we’ll have leftovers the following day. I only go to my favorite retailer (you all know who that is) once a week, for necessities. Period. And we decided to apply for a loan to pay off my credit cards. Unsecured loans weren’t an option, since our credit is less than stellar (though not poor. We’re somewhere in the middle). We opted to take one of the homeowner loans offered by our financial institution, rather than looking into online loans. Once we consolidate our debt, we are keeping our credit cards for emergencies only. It will feel so good to be debt-free that we won’t be tempted to hike them back up again.
I went last night to fill out the paper work, and they told me we’d hear back either this afternoon or Monday morning. Cross your fingers for us, please.
