I don't think I've mentioned that Brandon's school has been without power since Friday morning. From what the director told me, there was some sort of accident with the transformer for the shopping center (it's one of those ground transformers, those big green boxes). It got knocked out of place, I'm not sure if a truck hit it or something. The power company finally replaced it yesterday, and the electrician for the building did whatever he had to do, but we found out this morning when hubby dropped off Brandon that they didn't get a permit for whatever they did. Now they have to wait for the county to come inspect everything.
The director speculates that power should be back by the end of the week, but you know how these things go. The good thing is, the kids are having a blast! They are "surviving" on lots of water and fruit punch and popsicles to stay hydrated. They have been playing in the playground and watching movies, and they ordered pizza for lunch yesterday. I'm sure the teachers are trying to incorporate some sort of structured lessons, but Brandon has been having so much fun with the new activities that he hasn't mentioned anything else. And tomorrow they are bringing out the water slide used during their summer camp. I bet the kids want this blackout to last forever!
how are they watching movies without power?

They have a generator, which is running the fans for each classroom, the refrigerators, and the TV and DVD player in the largest classroom.
