My birthday is fast approaching, and I’m still not sure what I want to do to celebrate. Back in the day (also known as “before we had children”), hubby and I would hop in the car, along with our friends, and drive down to Key West for the day. Sometimes we’d take the World Famous Conch Train Tour, or we’d rent scooters and drive ourselves around. And of course there were times when we’d just skip vehicles altogether and see it all on foot. Each trip was always different, but two things remained constant: we’d have a celebratory birthday lunch at one of the restaurants, and we didn’t leave Key West until after sunset.
We haven’t done one of these day trips since we’ve had kids. Logistically speaking, it’s a lot harder for everyone to get the day off, and we don’t have the ease of fitting in just one or two cars like we used to with all the baby gear in tow.
