You really can't have it all, can you?

My husband has many wonderful traits, but romantic gift-giver is not one of them. We have an on-going agreement to not purchase gifts for each other for holidays, birthdays and the like in order to save money or use the funds to something else. He’s the type to actually follow those instructions. I’ll ignore the agreement and usually get him something, be it clothing or a DVD or CD he wants, or whatever else strikes my fancy. He, on the other hand, just doesn’t have romantic chip installed, and won’t surprise me with gifts of jewelry, or chemises, or breakfast in bed, or flowers. He shows his love in other ways, and I’d rather he be a faithful, helpful, loving husband than shower me with gifts and be a terrible partner, but a romantic little something on special occasions would be nice…
