The internet is so vast, and there are so many cool things to do and see online that many haven’t even heard of. Take YawpBox, for example. Users create personal profiles where they can catalog pictures and audio and video clips, and share experiences with other users. Other members can view your submissions and rate them, from cool to ridiculous. I’m a sucker for anything romantic and baby-related and that’s I looked through for now, but there are all sorts of categories to browse through.
YawpBox is currently promoting the Lex & Terry Challenge, where the hosts of YawpBoxTV are asking members to upload videos with specific content to be used in a weekly 30-minute show. Basically, users can try their hand at 15 minutes of fame and end up on TV. I think this is great for those that want to get out in the public eye, be they musicians or performance artists, and can’t afford the “traditional” methods of hiring someone to market them. I am too shy for this kind of thing. I get embarrassed when I see or hear myself in our personal home videos. But I know that there are people out there that are total hams, and love being on camera, and this seems like a great way to self-publicize.
