I forgot to mention the small scare we had on Saturday night while at my dad's house. My sister was playing around with Brandon. She squeezed his nose and noticed his left nostril was hard, and he says, "I have beads in my nose". It seems that while at school on Friday, he was participating in an activity that encourages fine motor skills, got bored, and stuck two of the beads he was given up his nose! We knew the best thing to do was remain calm, this is pretty common in young children, but we couldn't help it and a freak-out session ensued. I called his pediatrician and was advised to try and remove them with tweezers, but I feared pushing them up further and causing him to swallow them (or worse, getting them lodged in his nasal passage, which could lead to all sorts of infections and other things), so I used my fingernail to get them out. Nasty, I know, but it worked.
Have your kids ever put anything in their nose or ears? How did you handle it?
I put a baby lemon in my nose when I was younger. I think they took it out with tweezers.

My daughter swallowed a closed safety pin when she was about 9 and I rushed her to the doctor. It took me two weeks to calm down.
