Matty News

It's time for a Matty update. Every day that passes he surprises us with something new. Here are some of the latest achievements:

Tooth #6 sprouted on Monday (I think). He didn't fuss too much so we aren't absolutely sure it was Monday, but concluded that it was because I had checked him out on Sunday and it wasn't there, and the sitter mentioned the tooth peeking out on Wednesday.

He's walking everywhere, practically running in fact, and hardly lifts his arms up for balance. He can also balance himself enough to bend down and pick up things without holding onto or leaning on anything.

He's trying to talk. Beside Mama and Daddy, which he says often, he's tried to say ball ("ba") and Brandon ("enen", or "dende"). He also says "Ya!" and Aleida, which is the babysitter's name. He puts his head down as if he's hiding when asked "where's the baby?" He waves during the "El Pollito Asadito" song, and puts his hands up when you tell him "para arriba". His Titi taught him that. :-)

And he's learned to point at things he wants. Just the other day he was pointing at a bag of chips at my friend's house, and grunting for some. And yesterday when I picked him up he was talking a stroll with the sitter along the sidewalk and pointed to a car and a flock of birds flying overhead.

All of this before turning 1...is it any wonder why I have my hands full?!
