Close Call

I hadn't heard from my BFF Angie all weekend long, and she finally got around to telling me why yesterday. Her dad, who is a Vietnam Vet suffering from the "nonexistent" Agent Orange which offset a bunch of other ailments and has turned him into half the man he once was (literally...he weighs less than 100 pounds!), collapsed on Saturday. He went out for a round of golf with a couple of buddies in the morning, and became fatigued and just dropped to the ground. One friend went back to the clubhouse for help while the other stayed with him. It seems he had a mini-stroke. He's fine now, and was released from the hospital earlier this week. He has one of those medical id bracelets in case he's alone somewhere, but she's so grateful there were people with him, and that he's okay now. I'm glad too. I can't imagine being in her position, worrying so much about my father. But I guess that's they way life goes: They take care of us, and then we take care of them.
