Brandon has entered the beginning of the end of his fascination with Thomas the train. His new favorites are Spiderman and Pirates of the Caribbean. When we bought him new sneakers a couple of weeks ago, he specifically requested Spiderman shoes. He wants to know why we don't have any Spiderman movies or cartoons for him to watch.
He came home from school all last week with coloring pages from a pirate coloring book, and on Friday night asked me for blank pieces of paper and a stapler. He put one sheet on the front of his stack of coloring pages, and one on the back, wrote "PIRATESOFTHECARIBBEAN" (in caps and no spaces, copied from the DVD cover) on the front page, stapled all the pages together, and made his own "book". He's watched the movie three or four times throughout the weekend, and even took out his little Pirates-themed lego kit when the baby was napping.
Ironically, we just found out that Six Flags over Georgia has a Thomas Town, and wanted to treat him to a visit before he got "too old" for Thomas...looks like that's coming sooner than we thought. Good thing we've got another little guy to use as an excuse treat to a new theme park.
that's so funny
Posted by: wRitErsbLock at June 25, 2008 10:36 AMthey grow up so quickly. i bet if you took him to six flags, he'd still have a great time with the thomas town stuff.
Posted by: arcanai at June 25, 2008 1:54 PMI bet he'd have fun, too. The Big-Eyed Boy "grew out of" Caillou when he was 5. Or so he said. Yesterday morning when he was having a hard time waking up for day camp guess what he wanted to watch with me in bed? Yep, Caillou.
I sure hope that's not a renewed interest.
Posted by: Kate at June 25, 2008 3:44 PMThese kids are way too smart for us! I took my almost 4 year old grandaughter to dinner at a restaurant on the harbor. There are a number of boats moored there, and she noticed one with a "pirate" flag (excuse me, how does a 4 year old know what a pirate flag looks like!) Anyway, smiling and blushing she told me that Jack Sparrow was probably hiding in that boat and not to tell anyone. I told her I thought it was okay to tell her mother ~ Seriously, I need a refresher course in kids101!
Posted by: Ziva at June 26, 2008 2:26 AMI guess Chris skipped the Thomas phase because he likes Spiderman (as well as Ironman, Superman, Batman and any other superhero ending in "man") and he loves the "Yo-Ho's" to no end.
