The Proposal: A short review

- Hilarous!

- I could never wear heels that high.

- Wow, Sandra Bullock looks great.

- Oh my, that Ryan Reynolds is H.O.T. There's a reason he's on my List.

- The woodsy scenes reminded me of Forks. (as always, Twilight on the brain)

-Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock...how amusingly random!

Woof, woof!

There's a small chance a little girl will join our family soon. She's about a foot tall, weighs about ten pounds, and walks on all fours. Her name is Sassy. Isn't she adorable?!
My friend C came by last night and brought this little darling with her. C and her hubby have three dogs, and unfortunately economic hardship has determined that they have to give one of them up. She knows we are considering a small, playful, kid-friendly dog to join our family, and Sassy definitely fits that bill! C and Sassy were here for about half an hour, and the boys totally fell in love with her, as did I. We're still working on hubby, who is a cat person, but I think this will be a case of majority rules.
The good thing is that I know her medical history, since she's been my friend's doggie since she was born. No high-risk anything on the horizon, and all her shots are updated. And, C will give us all her gear, inlcuding a bowl, leash, collar, an almost-full box of Frontline flea control, even a hair trimmer!
Hubby and I still need to discuss, but I'm so excited. I can already picture her living with us.

Blurbs

- Annoyed: I signed up for "affordable" health insurance for the kids through the state, and it's less affordable for us than what I paid for all of us at my previous job! I guess it's my own fault for actually being honest on the application.

- I'm listening to Darius Rucker on some channel hubby put on. Just realized I haven't heard Hootie and the Blowfish in a long time!

- I'm in terrible-wife mode. I got home from work and just sat on the couch for two hours reading. Hubby reminded me at 9:30pm that I didn't make anything for dinner. I made him and Brandon a sandwich (Matty's been asleep since 8pm). I guess I forgot to actually vocalize what I was thinking when I walked in the door tonight: I've got a headache, and I'm not cooking.

- I'm a little sad regarding the latest news about Jon & Kate, but I can't say I'm surprised.

- I met up with an old friend from high school for coffee yesterday evening, who happens to live inside my community, two blocks away. I foresee many playdates in our future.

- To Twitter, or not to Twitter: That's the question I've been asking myself for the last few days. On the one hand, I do not have internet anything on my phone, so it would be futile to sign up. But on the other hand, I feel left out. What to do, what to do...

- Might be going to the movies with The Three Cs tomorrow night to see The Proposal. Yum, Eye Candy!

UGH!

Our satellite service is down. It's no fun to watch TV if all you can watch is an infomercial channel airing weight loss pill reviews for the latest one on the market, commercials for yet another unnecessary kitchen gadget, and a CD collection of the best love songs from the 1970's. I guess this will be the weekend we catch up on all the stuff on our DVR.

I shoulda known

The week I started my FNJ, I tried on this dress. It fit me perfectly, but as I had just started having an income again, I couldn't justify spending $25 on it. About two weeks ago, I decided that it was an investment, since I could easily wear it to work as well as "off-duty", and I've looked for it every time I've gone to the store since then. Wouldn't you know it, now it's nowhere to be found. No, not even online, the only sizes available are extra small, extra large, and extra-extra large. I need a medium. So if any of you see it, get it for me and I'll pay you back kthxbye

Seeking suggestions

So I've mentioned we're going to my cousin's wedding in July. I've been busting my brain trying to figure out what the boys are going to wear. My sis lent me two really cute mint-green stripe ties that her boys wore recently, and I think they would look adorable with tuxedo shirts and slacks. Or is that too formal for an early afternoon wedding? In the middle of summer. In Florida. Any other ideas?

Because I am a freak

I'm reading New Moon. Again. For those of you keeping track, it's the fourth time.
I'm so excited about the movie, I had to do something while I waited for November.
In case you haven't seen it, here's the trailer.

Bliss

So I missed my BIL's birthday celebration last night because we couldn't get a sitter (and I had a headache, and hubby was half asleep by 9:30pm, but the top reason was the sitter), and we missed a family party for him at my dad's house today because of my spa day, but what a spa day it was!
The place is amazing! I so want to buy a condo there when I win the lotto. (That's the only way I can afford it, a weekend stay there costs more than three Vegas vacations combined!) Can you imagine waking up every day to this view, or this one? And that's just the view, I don't even have the words for the rest of the place. It's so calming and serene, and just pretty. I wasn't able to take pictures of the spa because I left my camera in my friend's apartment (since it's not waterproof), but if you ask nicely I'll send you the link to the place, and some more pics we took on the grounds. It was a slice of heaven!
I only feel a little guilty about leaving hubby with the boys all day, and missing BIL's birthday celebrations. After all, a girl needs some "me" time every once in a while, and who can say no to a spa day?

enthused

Lots of fun stuff going on these next couple of days. First, I'm watching my niece and nephew while my stepbro and SIL go to a wedding. Then, tomorrow night, we're stepping out with all my siblings for my BIL's birthday.

On Sunday, C, SC and me (yes, I know that's grammatically incorrect, but it's cute because it rhymes, so it stays) are going to have a spa day with our friend N, who happens to live at a fabulous resort spa on the beach. Yes, I said live, l-i-v-e.. How lucky is he?! It's my very first visit to a spa, and I'm so excited! I plan on taking lots and lots of pictures, so many that you'll think you were there with me!

What are you up to this weekend?

Experiencing serious withdrawals

Hubby asked me yesterday when my cousin's wedding is. Seems he's as eager to head to Central Florida as I am. There was a time when we would go on Orlando vacations at least three times a year. I lost count of the amount of times we went to Orlando while we were kidless, and Brandon went theme-parking about seven times between the ages of 11 months and 2 years. Yes, I know, we're freaks.
But then we bought our condo, a year later we upgraded to our house, then Matty came along, and well...it's just not as feasible anymore. All that to say, in exactly 33 days we'll be making that 4-hour drive Northbound. Please be warned, it might be a little annoying around here...we're so excited we can't stand it!

My son, the abstract artist

Hubby left five pennies on top of the desk, they've been there for days. So just a few short moments ago, I sit down to quickly check my email and Facebook messages before getting the kids ready for bed, and Matty is quietly next to me. I hadn't noticed he was playing with the pennies. He arranged them and said, "Look, I make a ca-pillar!". Don't you just love it?! (Keep in mind this was the 2-year-old!)

Things

Lots to talk about, and little time to do it. Here are a few things on my mind lately:

- New Moon Trailer: OME!! I CAN. NOT. WAIT for November!!

- Jon & Kate plus 8: So sad to see this family being torn apart by the media. Whether there is truth to the infidelity rumors or not (whether him or her), the only ones that are going to suffer because of all this are those 8 beautiful kids.

- My 1-month anniversary at my Fabulous New Job (from now on to be known as FNJ) happened over the weekend. I am so very grateful to have found it. The people are awesome, the work is exciting, and the fringe benefits are great. Well, one of those fringe benefits will require that I start using a treadmill soon if I'm not careful, but that's the worst of the "cons".In fact, it's the only "con", which is really not a "con" at all. I'm so very happy with my FNJ. In case you were wondering, since I don't think I've mentioned that before... (/humor)

- Since most of the shows we watch are either on hiatus or airing reruns, hubby and I have been able to catch a few movies. Last week it was Bedtime Stories, Marley & Me, and Bride Wars. All three were great. I didn't expect to cry during Marley & Me, but it really got to me. Bride Wars was hilarious, and Brandon loved Bedtime Stories.

- We took the boys to see UP on Saturday morning. Two words: So cute! I did tear up a bit during some parts, and thought other parts were too "adult" for the intended audience, but this one will definitely be added to our collection when it's out on DVD.

- God willing, we will be going to Orlando in July for my cousin's wedding. That means that we get to see WB!! YAY! We'll be in the area for a couple of days, so we plan on hitting a theme park one day. We will probably melt, but whatevs: Islands of Adventure, here we come!

- Amy, aka Kikita, mentioned a meal I made during her visit last month in her latest post, so I'm linking to the recipe here. My friend C had linked to it on her blog a while ago, and it's become a family favorite ever since.

- Matty hasn't used a pacifier in over 2 weeks. It was sort of a cold turkey process: we forgot to take one to school a few times for naptime, and while at home we didn't have one readily available a couple of nights when it was time for bed. Before we knew it, a week had passed and he hadn't "needed" it. We're on the 3rd week now without Matty using one, and it's great! I'm a bit nostalgic about the whole thing, since that's just one more sign that he's not a baby anymore, but I know it's inevitable.

That's it for now...I think.
